One of the tips I can offer for helping children choose hands-on learning activities is to set up learning centers for at home preschool. This does not mean turning your home into a daycare center or classroom. It does mean, taking some organized steps to creating more balance in your home…and helping your children learn.

There are a few different reasons why this works well. It can be a simple preschool curriculum. Or, you can set up preschool learning centers for at home preschool to keep little kids occupied while you attend to older kids.

I run down the options for you. There are a lot of ideas to make this work as a way to free you up to get things done.

Preschool learning centers simple approach to a preschool curriculum.

Learning Centers for at Home Preschool

When I had a preschooler and a baby, I did not want to just have my preschooler sitting and watching tv while I fed my newborn. So, I took a few of our preschool learning games and set them up on the dining room table for him to work on one at a time.

This took a little planning. I had already made these preschool learning center games listed on the preschool page. So, all I had to do was pull them out of a bin and set them up.

I often used these when I would be putting the baby down for a nap in her room. My son would be in the living room playing. I could let him play with the learning games so he could keep his mind and hands engaged. Then, I could get the baby down for a nap.

When I started homeschooling, my children were 8, 5, 2 and 2. Twin toddlers in the mix meant I had to play zone defense in order to help my big kids accomplish any school work.

As a military family, we did not have family close by to stop over and help. It did not take me long to realize that two toddlers were not going to sit quietly and wait while I was working with the older kids.

Benefits of Using Preschool Learning Centers

I used this same strategy to set up learning centers at home. Using preschool learning centers at home was my strategy to keep my younger children engaged while homeschooling big kids. It also doubles as a cost-effective preschool curriculum.
