Less than Perfect Mom

This year, I vow to be a "less than perfect" mom. I am shedding the stuff that doesn't matter to soak up the moments that matter as a mom. Mom Motivation Mondays

Welcome to Mom Motivation Mondays where weekly contributing writers share their motherhood experiences to encourage you to find the joy in being a mom. {This week: Post by Heather} Until this year, I never fully understood what my parents talked about when they said each year went by faster than the last. I am now painfully aware that in order to truly feel the effects of … [Read more...]

Why I Don’t Have Mom Guilt

Stop the Mom Guilt! I am immune to mom guilt-I do not have it and I want to share with you why so you can get rid of it too.

Why I Chose to be A Stay-at-Home Mom

I chose to be a stay-home-mom based on experiences that I could not ignore. Before my husband and I were even married, we discussed how we would best care for our children if/when we had them. There is only so much preparation you can do to get ready for parenthood, but how we were going to care for our children was important. Maybe you had similar experiences that shaped your … [Read more...]

Motherhood Is Not Easy

Motherhood is not easy. If you are feeling depressed as a mom or post-partum depression, this is for you.

Exhausted, over-stretched, grasping to figure out if I was a successful mom that day. Of course, I never feel that way on just one day.   "Things worth doing are never easy" comes to mind when I think of being a mother, but the bad days can get very draining. We could let ourselves view motherhood as a sentence rather than a celebration. After weaning my second child … [Read more...]

A Mother’s Best Asset

What is a mother's best asset? It may be something we don't want to admit.

When we were children, we all observed our parents parenting so we had time to learn about parents and children before we thought about having our own. I thought about all of these experiences and they helped me form the ‘what would I do if that were my kid’ philosophy. Remember all those things you thought to yourself before having children: "I would never let my … [Read more...]

The Female Brain: Mothers and Children

A book that shares how the female brain really does have us wired to follow a seasons of life mentality in motherhood and beyond.

I remember a friend posting on his Facebook status that he wished there was a book that would help him understand women. I commented that even being a woman did not mean that I understood many! We are a unique breed of person. Our bodies are not constant or steady; we live with a roller coaster ride of hormones and therefore thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc. coursing … [Read more...]

Find Balance in Motherhood and Relationships

Find balance in motherhood and relationships. Book review of Mom Connection.

I received a copy of the book Mom Connection, and one to giveaway to a reader, in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are my own. Balance in motherhood is my goal every day. Motherhood can feel like “twirling 100 hula hoops” and moving in “endless circles”. I think we can all relate to that visual! The goal of finding balance motherhood, according to Tracey … [Read more...]

Why I Don’t Use Daycare

Some moms choose daycare. I don't. As a former daycare caregiver, I chose to stay-at-home for a few reasons related to my daycare experiences.

After working in three different child care centers across the country and as my first child grew, I understood more concretely how my decision to leave my child in the care of others would impact him. It is the personal choice of my husband and I to not use day care. This choice does not mean that we think that parents who send their children to day care in homes or centers … [Read more...]

Confessions and Clarifications of A Stay-at-Home Mom

Let's clarify a few things about life as a stay-at-home mom. We SAHMs do not think we are perfect.

I don’t write this blog because I think my life is perfect, or I am the  perfect wife, or perfect mother.  I write because despite all of my imperfections, I am happy, and will make every effort to be happy every day. I don’t always like  doing what I do each day: Who wants to drag a screaming, kicking almost-4-year old out of Library story time? Who wants to … [Read more...]

7 Ways for Moms to Fit in Me Time

Tough to get your me time mom? Fit in me time with these 7 me time ideas for moms. No babysitter needed!

Me time does not always look like I picture it in my head. Quiet hours with a book and a warm cup of coffee just do not happen in my season of life with young children. Many moms tell me it’s hard to find time alone to get some 'me time'.  It is hard to plan when we will get time kid-free.  I had to utilize creative ways to fit in my 'me time' when I was learning how to find … [Read more...]
