It is not difficult to live a more natural lifestyle even with little kids at home. In fact, while they are little is the best time to start! It becomes second nature to our kids. What we live, they learn. These 3 simple steps to a natural lifestyle are the steps I took to keep my family healthy and maintain health balance at home.

No doubt about it, we have to read some labels to know what ingredients are in our household products. This can be done more simply than you may think.

It lists the common toxins in our household and personal care products that are toxic to the body. We are using these items everyday: toothpaste, shampoo, lotions, face creams, household cleaners, etc, so going toxin free with each of these is so important.

You can look for ingredients like SLS, phthalates, parabens or fragrance. All are red flag ingredients. The term “natural” lies. It is a marketing ploy many times. It may have ingredients grown in the ground, but were their pesticides sprayed on them, were any synthetics created in a lab rather than real plants used? These are questions we need to know for long term health.

There are verifiably natural products out there.

After you have read labels, identified products that contain the junk ingredients, you need to check sourcing. For any products that you feel are clean enough to keep, check the company’s website for where they source their ingredients.

Do they list where the farms are located or which countries they are in? Is the farm growing pesticide and herbicide free or are they just using the natural label to catch your attention?
