Toddlers and Preschoolers need play materials that they can touch, move and explore their imaginations. This lapbook cookie sheet play idea is perfect to keep the play less messy and it can be used as a travel toy too.
A dollar store cookie sheet is the main item you will need to buy for creating this lapbook play with Bluey characters – or any cartoon characters your child is enjoying right now.

Bluey Characters Lap Tray Play
Supplies:
- Cookie sheet (grab a cheap one from Dollar General)
- Paper
- Printer
- Colored pencils
- Magnet tape (the kind that has a sticky backing)
How to make the travel lap play boards and characters:
Print out your favorite Bluey characters from images online. I chose wallet size. Then, color and cut them out.

Laminate each one and trim around them to separate them.

Add a small square of magnet onto the back. I use rolls of magnet tape. It cuts very easily and sticks well too.

Now it’s playtime! The lap play activity for toddlers with Bluey characters is ready. This tray activity makes a great quiet time activity. It helps toddlers and preschoolers play quietly while still exploring in a hands-on way.

Picking up and placing the magnetic Bluey characters while they use their imagination to play their favorite episodes works on their fine motor skills, language and creativity. Even little ones learn so much with hands-on DIY toys.
Make a few and they can be stored vertically when not in use. They are easy to clean up – every piece sticks to the cookie sheet. Or store the Bluey characters in a ziploc bag for next time.

Simple learning and play activities for toddlers like this one help us moms and they are fun for our kids. It’s a win-win.
