This hands-on activity is perfect for preschoolers learning to associate letter sounds with images. Simply using printable cartoon graphics, and some posterboard plus contact paper, you can make an activity tray for this letter sound sorting activity that works for multiple letters easily.
Letter sound sort with a frog theme.
I created this letter sorting game for preschoolers when we were using a thematic unit all about frogs. Our centers were frog themed and this one specifically taught the kids to identify pictures that started with letter F.

Letter Sounds Sorting with a Frog Theme
Supplies:
Blue cardstock or posterboard
Black marker
Printed images

I covered the back of a cookie sheet with a blue piece of card stock or poster board. It was cut into the shape of a pond. I attached the pond to the cookie sheet with clear contact paper.
In the middle of the pond, I placed a lily pad with the letter F written on it. This had a piece of magnet on the back.

Then I printed out stock images from Picmonkey with different animals and items. I cut them out and laminated them with clear contact paper. I also added a piece of magnet tape to the back of each one.
Some started with letter F and some did not. This helped the children say what the picture was, hear the beginning sound and choose which ones started with F.
The images that started with letter F were placed on the pond.

This is a fun frog-themed letter activity. It got my preschoolers thinking about letter sounds and sorting. We have a printable letter sounds “frog jump” worksheet in our shop you can use with this activity too.
This activity will work great in a homeschool preschool setting too. Frog themed units are always fun for kids.
