I prepare to take a shower. My mind is numb. I think I could just sleep right here.
This life, this role, is what I wanted there is just no break.
My kids don’t nap unless we have a perfectly timed errand that causes the toddler to succumb to road sleep. Then she will stay that way until we get home.
There are no candy coated moments as a mom. Just real life here.
Yes, I can handle it. I am the expert on my children. I know them, love them. There is no other person on the planet hard-wired to know how to care for my children like me.
I believe that in the depth of my soul.
Even on the days where I do not have immediate answers, I know I am the best one to care for them.
Doesn’t mean I will have the answers today for what will come next week. But, since I know the backstory of these little people I can – and will – figure it out.
Not easy, not simple, not without a lot of hard work.
Deep breaths are all I can muster.
If Doing Something Full Time Means It is a Job, My Job is Stay at Home Mom.
We are experts on our children. We spend a full time career learning their strengths and cheering them on. We plan for supporting them through their weaknesses and arranging tutoring, classes and coaching.
Every challenge of motherhood teaches us and prepares us for the next one. It’s a masters class where you don’t earn a degree. You just carry around a pretty strong and powerful title: Mom.
Stay at home mom IS my job. It is a hashtag: #stayathomemomismyjob. We can wear it proudly knowing that it is a career of service.
We do earn a degree’s worth of knowledge on each child we have. #stayathomemomismyjob is the mission.
And we are mom strong enough to get it done.
Time to know your value, mom, and appreciate your title! Being a mom is work – hard work – and it is worth the time we spend on it.
