I encourage my kids to save up their chore money when they want new toys because I do not want them thinking I will buy them new toys all the time. This teaches money usage skills and one new toy per kid adds such excitement in our house!

It is so handy to have a backyard space. I can send the kids out when they get a little too wound up for indoor play. Check out the deals at WalMart or Toys R Us savings for backyard play structures and toys. Often the savings are best near the end of a season. Grab a new outdoor play structure for less and you can get use out of it for months to come.

I love eating outside with my family. It is very calming to get the kids to be outdoors, and the crumbs and spills are much easier to deal with when they are outside. We use plastic reusable plates and utensils outside to eliminate any breakage of our regular dishes. Bed Bath and Beyond has a great selection of outdoor picnic supplies for less.
