Money Savings: Days of Summer Fun for Less
You do not have to overstretch your budget to do fun activities with your kids. Check out these free or inexpensive kid-free activities in your area. Your town not listed? This list of 32 free Summer activities for kids are nationwide.
Take pictures at each fun event during your Summer weeks and make a photo book for 50% off at Shutterfly to remember all of this Summer’s fun times.
Take the kids to a toy store to pick out a fun new toy with their own chore money. Our kids love taking the money they can spend to Toys R Us. (We do require them to save and tithe some of their chore earnings. You can read more about when we start chores in our house.) I encourage my kids to save up their chore money when they want new toys because I do not want them thinking I will buy them new toys all the time. This teaches money usage skills and one new toy per kid adds such excitement in our house!
Have a Sea World Park near you? We had one in San Diego, and it’s only a few hours away now, so money savings on a trip to Sea World is very helpful! Grab savings so you can keep your visit as low-cost as possible for your family.
It is so handy to have a backyard space. I can send the kids out when they get a little too wound up for indoor play. Check out the deals at WalMart or Toys R Us savings for backyard play structures and toys. Often the savings are best near the end of a season. Grab a new outdoor play structure for less and you can get use out of it for months to come.
I love eating outside with my family. It is very calming to get the kids to be outdoors, and the crumbs and spills are much easier to deal with when they are outside. We use plastic reusable plates and utensils outside to eliminate any breakage of our regular dishes. Bed Bath and Beyond has a great selection of outdoor picnic supplies for less.
