As stay-at-home moms, balancing household tasks and family time can be a mission and a full time job. That’s why I’ve compiled some practical and manageable spring cleaning tips to help you spruce up your space without feeling overwhelmed- and it doesn’t have to be limited to springtime.

Cleaning Tips for Moms

Create a Cleaning Schedule

Like anything successful in life you have to break down your tasks into manageable bite size chunks. Allocate specific days (and times of day) for each room or task.

Try to dedicate Monday to the kitchen, Tuesday to the bathrooms, and so on- don’t leave the big jobs for the end of the week. This way, you won’t feel overwhelmed by the need to clean everything at once.

Declutter and Donate

Decluttering the physical can declutter the mental so go through closets, toy bins, and storage areas. Donate items that you no longer need but are still in good condition- bless someone else with something great.

This not only helps others but also frees up space in your home and head and on the plus side when you involve your kids, you can teach them the value of giving.

Deep Clean the Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and it deserves some extra attention. Wipe down cabinets, clean out the refrigerator, and sanitise surfaces. A clean kitchen can significantly improve your daily routine and also inspire you and the family to keep it that way.

Tackle the Bathrooms

This one requires finer detail so scrub tiles, clean grout with an old toothbrush, and disinfect all surfaces in the bathrooms- double down on this. Replace old shower curtains and bath mats to give the space a fresh look- also unscrew the shower head to clean it on the inside.

This is also a good time to check for any mold or mildew and address it with a vengeance.

Outdoor Clean-Up

This can easily become an eyesore, especially in winter time so it’s time to sweep patios, scrub outdoor furniture, and check for any needed repairs. A well-maintained yard can be a wonderful extension of your living space, especially as the weather warms up.

Preventing Pests

With Spring coming up it can bring unwanted pests into your home. And any easy way to prevent this is to ensure that all food is properly stored and that your home is clean and free of crumbs and goodies. Seal any cracks or gaps in walls and windows. For persistent pest issues, consider pest control.

Involve the Family

Cleaning shouldn’t just fall on your table. Get the biggest culprits involved by assigning age-appropriate chores. This not only lightens your load but also teaches them responsibility and trust me, they’ll think twice next time they want to mess around. Make it fun by turning on some music or setting up a reward system for completed tasks.

Take Breaks and Reward Yourself

Remember to take breaks and reward yourself for your hard work. Spring cleaning is a marathon, not a sprint and it’s like therapy so you should follow the stages. A little treat, whether it’s a coffee break or a relaxing bath, can keep you motivated.
