I am not naturally a morning person. My children have forced me out of my comfort zone from day one since they all like to rise early. My morning coffee is the first step in my morning routine-after saying good morning to each of the kids. In fact, my children have even asked to help make my morning coffee!
In the morning I like a hot brewed cup of coffee, unless we need to get out of the house quickly. Instant coffee is really handy for those mornings when you have minutes to spare, but sparing the morning cup is not an option!
We can make instant coffee so fast, and I often use instant in the afternoons when I need (or want) a little boost-or just a few moments of time to sip…and pretend like I am on vacation for 30 seconds.
The same old cup of warm coffee can be jazzed up without adding time before you can take that first sip. You can make instant coffee taste like it came from the coffee shop..and it’s much quicker than loading the kids in the car and driving to the drive-thru.
I prefer iced coffee in the afternoon, and I recently made my own Vanilla Peppermint Iced Coffee as a special treat. I will share the simple iced coffee drink recipe with you along with a list of five other coffee drinks that are quick to make.
These are more than coffee recipes, they are practically a collection of life hacks for busy moms, right? You know the early morning-that can often happen after a very sleep deprived night-that leads you to want bedtime to happen at about 2 o’clock in the afternoon? (Is that just me?)
All of these instant coffee recipes take 5 minutes or less to prep. It is worth saving the money to make these at home.
Coffee Drinks that are Quick to Make
Iced Vanilla Peppermint Coffee
With some simple ingredients, I created a fancy, but simple, coffee shop coffee drink in my kitchen-loading the kids into the car not required! What you need:
6 ounce brewed cup of coffee (I used Folgers instant coffee.)
12 oz glass
Half ’n’ half
Peppermint oil or extract, 1-2 drops
Pure Vanilla extract, to taste
How to make it:
I used my Folgers instant coffee granules to brew a 6 ounce cup of hot coffee. After filling a glass with ice, I poured the hot coffee into the glass.
I added half ‘n’ half to lighten the coffee a bit and give it a creamy texture. To flavor my iced coffee drink, I added 2 drops of peppermint essential oil, a dash of pure vanilla extract, and a little sweetener. You can use your favorite sweetener, or leave it out. I did find that I liked the flavor of the coffee just with the peppermint and vanilla. Stir it all gently to combine the flavors, and sip. (I highly recommend making this during your child’s rest time. Put your feet up and enjoy with a good book.)
This flavor combo was great together, and it helps that Folgers instant coffee does not taste like Instant Coffee. There is no need to waste time driving to the coffee shop to grab an expensive afternoon pick-me-up. You can make coffee drinks that are quick to make in 5 minutes!
Here are 5 more coffee shop coffee drinks that are quick to make so we all can have a nice list to try when we need a little mommy me time and afternoon coffee treat.
