Welcome to Homemaking Tips Tuesdays where contributing writers share helpful homemaking tips so you can feel more successful caring for your home and family.

So yummy! This healthier version of chocolate pudding pie is so decadent! It takes minutes to put together too, so it's a quick kid-friendly dessert to make in a pinch.

Remember those pudding cups when you were a kid? It was such a decadent treat to get one of those in my lunch box. I’ve got a healthier version for you! This chocolate pudding dessert recipe is great for adults or kids, and it makes a really rich chocolate pudding pie too!

With my motivation to eat healthier and live a more natural lifestyle-at least as much as I can-I don’t buy treats like those pudding cups at all. The kids often have chocolate chips or ice cream when we let them have dessert, but we don’t really buy a lot of packaged sweets to keep around regularly.

I want to expose my kids to healthier options like a decadent take on a new recipe I recently tried. I call it Healthier Chocolate Pudding Pie. It is made with Greek yogurt, so we start with healthy ingredients to make a less-guilty dessert option that kids and adults will enjoy.

Healthier Chocolate Pudding Pie with Greek Yogurt

You can make the chocolate pudding and the pie in less than 15 minutes total.

I made this quickly the other night when I went to a friend’s house for dinner. Both of our husband’s were gone for work, so we gathered together with the kids to hang out and break up the evening. It’s a treat to do that so I don’t get overwhelmed with parenting alone for stretches of time.

I decided last minute to make this as my dessert to bring to dinner. My plan was to make brownies, but I forgot about it until 30 minutes before we were heading out. Chocolate Pudding Pie was fast, easy, and the twins helped make it.

Chocolate Pudding Pie Ingredients

2 cups Greek Yogurt

1/2 cup cocoa

1/2 cup honey

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/4-1/2 cup chocolate chips

2 cups crushed cookies

whipped cream

chopped nuts

How to Make Chocolate Pudding Pie-A Healthier Way

This is SO easy! It takes very little time to put this all together.

1) Place two handfuls of cookies into baggie or blender. I used an organic coconut cookie from Costco, but Nilla wafers work, or really any favorite cookie.

2) Seal the baggie if using. Crush the cookies by banging with a measuring cup or blending in the blender. Cookies should be smaller than quarter size but do not have to be uniform.

3) Pour the cookie crumbs into an 8 by 8 baking dish or serving bowl of your choice.

4) In a mixing bowl, combine the yogurt, cocoa, honey, vanilla, and chocolate chips. Stir until well combined. Texture should be smooth.

5) Pour pudding mixture over cookie layer. Smooth the pudding to make an even layer.

6) Top the pudding with additional chocolate chips, or chopped nuts as desired.  You can serve this right after making, or chill it in the fridge for an hour and it will firm up nicely for serving.

7) Serve with whipped cream on top if you like. I like to add some chopped pecans or sliced almonds on top as well.

Warning: This is so good! It’s a comfort food for sure. The Greek yogurt helps me feel little less guilty when I eat this, but it is nice that the sweetener is natural, and the ingredients can be completely organic if you choose.

You certainly can make the basic pudding recipe all on its own. I shared that here previously.

The beauty of this chocolate pudding pie recipe is that you can add or remove amounts or ingredients to suit your taste. We’ll leave the serving size up for debate too! 🙂
