You made me feel so much better knowing it’s not just me going through this. My child was diagnosed at two with autism. It has been such a challenging journey this far. I quit my job and schooling to be there for my child. Every day truly is different, never knowing what to expect or who to trust with your child. I’ve had to switch several therapies because they were mean or wrong for my child. Having a child with autism means being there and very involved. It’s hard as a parent not to lose your own identity while giving so much of your self. My child is a gift from heaven though. We are in this together.

I am so glad that things are stable and that your step son has a loving caring family to grow up with.

Thank you for writing this cause it makes me realize that I'm not alone. I took on my 4 year old step son (now 8) with autism, having no idea what I was really getting myself into. I can relate to not being able to leave the house or even hold down a job because of childcare and so many other issues. It's been a battle but we are finally in a place that is stable and it hasn't been easy getting here. Thanks again!!!

Such a wonderful post. It is amazing how much strength we have when we do not have a choice. I can imagine how hard it would be to navigate unknown waters like this. You're doing a great job, mama!
