How to stay grounded as a mom-and anyone who feels the social media pressure to be some certain way.
Growing up I couldn’t wait to become a mom. I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a stay at home mom. I thought it was one of the best jobs in the world! Now that I am in this role I’ve found it more rewarding and more difficult than I could have ever imagined. I had no idea how much I would love these kids and how much I would worry about every little thing.

In today’s world it is so easy to give in to this worry and drive yourself crazy trying to live up to this impossible standard. Being the BEST SAHM in the world.

The stay at home mom who makes home cooked organic meals from scratch, who completes intricate Pinterest crafts with their children every day, who keeps an immaculate house, who has a perfectly toned body without spending hours exercising and the list could go on.

It’s not easy to stay grounded as a SAHM and keep your sanity. Especially with the pressures and influences of social media. I’ve come to realize I need to do a few things to make sure I don’t fall down the rabbit hole of social media comparison.
First, I need to remind myself of who I am and surrender my heart on a daily basis. See if we aren’t intentional about this we slowly start serving the wrong people. Who do you want to please? For you are a servant to whoever’s approval you seek.

Second, we need to give ourselves some grace. Now I’m not saying we should let our houses go and live in a mess or eat junk food from McDonald’s every day. But we need to stop putting so much pressure on ourselves.

Some days we may be really productive and find ways to keep a clean house. Other days we may spend the entire time consoling a tired toddler. That’s okay! If you don’t complete everything on your to-do list, don’t feel guilty.

Lastly, we need to stop comparing our lives to each other. We were designed uniquely and each given a different set of gifts or talents. Housekeeping may not be my strength, but that doesn’t mean I’m a failure as a stay at home mom. Instead of comparing, we must remember what we are thankful for and celebrate our own strengths.A weekly series of motivation for moms brought to you by stay at home mom bloggers at The Stay-at-Home Mom Survival Guide.
